The Lisbon Stock Exchange ended the opening session of the week slightly higher, unlike most major markets in Western Europe. The PSI rose 0.44% to 6,699.06 points, with half of the listed stocks in the green and the other half in the red.
EDP Renováveis led the gains, rising 2.03% to €14.61 on the day Goldman Sachs revised its price target for the company upward.
The index was boosted by two other heavyweights: Galp, which rose 1.69% to 19.21 euros, and EDP, which rose 1.14% to close at 3.819 euros.
BCP, a major PSI-listed company, also helped, but in a more moderate way. The bank’s shares, led by Miguel Maia, rose 0.42% to 0.3861 euros.
On the downside, Mota-Engil fell 3.1% to €3.564, while Semapa fell 0.93% to €14.94 and REN fell 0.84%, ending the day at €9.41.
Jerónimo Martins, one of the main companies in the index, also fell 0.71% to 15.47 euros. The owner of Pingo Doce closed at its lowest value since the beginning of July 2021, as the results presented last week continued to be punished. The company’s shares, led by Pedro Soares dos Santos, suffered their biggest drop in more than 31 years on the stock market on Thursday.
