Apple Vision Pro to Receive Native Steam Link App, Expanding Game Streaming Options

Published on

Apple’s Vision Pro headset is set to gain broader gaming functionality as Valve prepares to launch a native Steam Link app for visionOS, allowing users to stream PC games directly to the mixed-reality device. The beta version is already available through TestFlight, offering early access ahead of a wider release.

Steam Link Beta Arrives on visionOS

Valve has announced that Steam Link is now available in beta for Apple Vision Pro, marking the first native version of the app built specifically for Apple’s spatial computing platform.

The app enables users to stream games from their Steam library on a compatible Mac or Windows PC to the Vision Pro headset, adding another entertainment use case for the premium device beyond video and productivity applications.

Apple Vision Pro Gaming Expands Beyond Media Consumption

Since its launch, Apple Vision Pro has been widely recognized for its strengths in media viewing, particularly through immersive video experiences and its large virtual display capabilities.

Recent updates to visionOS 26.4 have also improved gaming performance and compatibility, and the arrival of Steam Link further broadens the headset’s entertainment appeal.

Steam Link on Vision Pro Supports 2D Game Streaming Only

At launch, Steam Link for Vision Pro will support only 2D game streaming and does not include support for VR-native Steam titles.

That means users can play traditional PC games from their Steam library on a large virtual screen within the Vision Pro environment, but cannot yet access full virtual reality Steam experiences through the headset.

While the lack of VR support may disappoint some users, the headset’s expansive virtual display and high-resolution screens could still make it an appealing platform for playing standard PC games in a cinematic format.

How to Access the Steam Link Vision Pro Beta

Users interested in trying the app early can join the Steam Link beta through Apple’s TestFlight platform, which distributes pre-release software for iOS and visionOS devices.

Conclusion

The arrival of Steam Link on Apple Vision Pro represents another step in Apple’s push to position the headset as a broader entertainment platform. Although limited to 2D game streaming for now, the native visionOS app gives Vision Pro owners access to a significantly larger library of PC games and could help strengthen the headset’s appeal among gamers as the platform evolves.
