The Ministry of Health in Itoporanga this week expanded priority categories for access to a COVID-19 vaccine. Pregnant and postpartum women with comorbidities as well as breastfeeding women now have access to the vaccination and have an open vaccination schedule this week.

According to Central Health Post Nurse Jucilene Rossa Bonfin, pregnant and postpartum women (up to 45 days postpartum), who are 18 or older, with or without comorbidities, must submit a medical report or prescription that allows for immunization. On the other hand, breastfeeding women(s) who are 18 years of age or older must prove their condition by submitting a prescription or medical statement, as well as an identity document with a photo and/or SUS card.

Vaccination was administered to these audiences in accordance with technical recommendations with vaccines given from Comirnaty / Pfizer or Sinovac / Butantan laboratories (among those available in the municipality).

The Department of Health explains that the arrangement of infant vaccination will depend on the number of doses received from the Ministry of Health and sent to the municipalities, and they must meet the following criteria and deadlines:

1. Breastfed infants up to 6 months of age: can be vaccinated from June 19 onwards;

2. Breastfed infants between 6 months and 1 year: can be vaccinated from June 26;

3. Infants who are breastfed with children aged 1 to less than 2 years: can be vaccinated from 3 July onwards;

4. Infants who are breastfed by children over 2 years of age: they can be vaccinated from July 10
