Pedro Proenca, president of La Liga Portugal, points to “things going back to normal” in the new football season
The president of Liga Portugal (LPFP), Pedro Proença, has announced the start of the 2021/22 season, with the start of the League Cup, considering that it will be a turning point in the way, after the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.
“The new season of the Allianz Cup has begun. The competition is in its 15th edition and is increasingly lively and vibrant. Today, we are also celebrating the start of what we know will be the season that will mark the return of professional football to normal,” the coach launched via Facebook.
He added: “The recovery we know is gradual and we will start our tournaments – Liga Portugal Bwin and Liga Portugal 2 – with restrictions, but with the firm conviction that we will finish the season with stadiums full. This is undoubtedly our ambition.”
According to Pedro Proenca, “Football only makes sense with the fans”, confirming the efforts of the Association of Clubs to get the fans back to the stadiums.
He stressed that “above all, for this reason, we are striving hard to get them back to where they belong. We know that this day is getting closer and closer.”
