A 14-year-old hits his head and dies during Atletico Madrid’s title celebrations

A 14-year-old fan died in an unexpected and tragic accident during celebrations for the Atletico Madrid title on Saturday.

According to Elbais, the young man was in a car with several friends, with his head outside the window, while the latter was preparing to enter the underground parking lot in Plaza de Santa Ana.

Without realizing the circumstances, the minor hit his head violently against a wall in the parking lot and died “practically on the spot”, around 21:00 local time, equivalent to 20:00 in Lisbon.

According to the same source, a witness told El País that the truck driver was driving so fast that he had demolished “up to seven security barriers” before entering the parking lot.

Paramedics were also called to the site, where they found the young man an accomplished “suffering from a cardiorespiratory arrest and a severe traumatic brain injury”. Although he tried to save him “for more than an hour,” the relief team was unable to save him.
