A BALL – The Lionesses rest at 4 and finish… at 8 (Women’s Soccer)

Sporting welcomed and crushed Club Albergaria, 8-0, in a match linked to the second round of the qualifying stage for the English Premier League champion, which was held on Sunday morning, at the Aurelio Pereira stadium, in Alcochet.

In a one-way match, Mariana Cabral’s side early on began writing another winning story, when, 10 minutes later, after a cross from the right by Ana Borges, Heidi Roth, wistfully, swerved into your goal. Five minutes later, Ana Telles assisted and Diana Silva made it 2-0. The creativity of Ana Telles, on the left flank, came back to fruition in the 19th minute, this time with another help from Ana Borges, who made the foot bait.

With the end of the first half approaching, Andrea Jacinto, with a superb ball-breaking pass, managed to isolate Diana Silva, who, in the face of Lindsey Kitson, scored two goals in the match. The Portuguese international scored 12 goals in 12 matches.

In the supplementary phase, lionesses kept their pace high, thus increasing calendar. Anna Telles did it again and made Brenda Perez header 5-0. Anna Telles also wanted to put her name on the scorers list (and she did a lot to deserve it…), but the superb shot, in the 70th minute, hit the goal bar of Club Albergaria. However, in the recharge, Brenda Perez was smart and pulled in the back of the net. Chandra Davidson, who had just been thrown into the game, was hungry to score and, within three minutes, scored twice. The date was written 8-0.

After the victory in the Maritimo stronghold (3-1), Sporting continues the path of victories in this stage of the qualifiers for the champions, thus adding 6 points. Club Albergaria suffered its second defeat in a row after losing to Benfica (0-2).

In the next round, Sporting receives Famalicao, in a match of the third round, but before that, it will face Leo Lanc Villaverdeze (next Sunday, for the League Cup), and U de Pulvorera (Tassa de Portugal).

Clube Albergaria host SC Braga in the third round of this stage of the Champions Qualifiers, and before that Benfica face two League Cup quarter-final matches – next Sunday at home and on January 5, out of doors. And after clashes with the Eagles, Aveiro’s team will also face Tercens for the Portuguese Cup.
