A BOLA – A coach met by fans: favorite dish and the hardest word in Portuguese (Video) (Seleção)

The first interview for the national coach Roberto Martinez was made in a special way: by the Portuguese. The new coach answered questions sent in by fans of all ages, on topics as diverse as cooking, soccer, as he prefers to be called, or even an alternative career.

I was surprised, I didn’t know what “goat work” was, but everything was explained, I even saw it done by the Brazilian Djalminha.

As for what you liked most about Portugal, you didn’t have to think much. ′′ Many things, the climate, the food, it’s a beautiful country, but I chose the mentality of football culture. Football is what we live here, and there is a healthy rivalry. It is a passionate country that coincides with my lifestyle.”

Roberto Martinez was asked if he really had a favorite dish in Portugal and about studying the language: “We eat very well here. I didn’t have time to try all the dishes, but the portuguese soup is my favourite, so far. I was also told that I should try the cod in its different ways of cooking it. I think I will like Portuguese cuisine. Portuguese is a very beautiful language. I am Catalan and there are many ways to pronounce it and many uses of vowels with connection points that remind me of my childhood. After more than 20 years working in England and speaking English, Portuguese is very close now. I like some words, but they are difficult. I study every day to be able to do this kind of interview in Portuguese. For example, it is difficult for me to say “aspects”, whenever I want to talk about it, it costs me a lot (laughs). » Either I learn quickly or we have to find another word.”

If you weren’t a coach, what would you be? «It is difficult, but I will be a physiotherapist. I did my degree in Spain, and I’ve always been very interested in this area, the way the body recovers from injuries. I’ll be in that area.”
