A BOLA – FPF challenges clubs to help integrate Ukrainian refugees (Football)

The Portuguese Football Federation launched a challenge to the world of football and created a project to stimulate and synthesize proposals for shelter and employment for Ukrainian families, with the help of football clubs.

The name says a lot about the goals of the Federal Authority: each club, family – a project to help Ukraine.
The aim of the project is to turn the clubs into a support platform that facilitates integration into our society and provides hope to the population in case of emergency, after fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Coach Paulo Fonseca and his wife Katerina, Ukrainian by birth, are ambassadors for this FPF initiative, which has already begun to raise awareness of football clubs and federations from the north to the south of the country.

Basically, the Portuguese Football Federation encourages clubs to act as a host cell, finding work for an adult refugee and offering football practice to children or minors in the family. Clubs that accept the federation’s proposal will provide the job, while the FPF will finance Ukrainian youth sports.

The President of the French Football Federation, Fernando Gomez, is convinced that “Portuguese clubs, as representatives of the family that everyone can be proud of, will set an example of the hope and solidarity that the Ukrainian people need to alleviate their pain and suffering, and mitigate the effects of a terrible war.”

We believe we will be able to engage them and educate them on this issue. I am sure they will gladly welcome the Ukrainian family and encourage the local community to help ensure the integration is complete,” he added.
