On Thursday, March 21, until 6 p.m., Hospital das Clínicas is promoting a joint effort to prevent colorectal cancer.

This action is part of Marcio Azul Marinho Month, a month marked by awareness of the disease. This activity is carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Brazilian Society of Colon and Proctologists and the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology.

Medical consultations with specialists and colonoscopy examinations are available. In total, 25 patients over 45 years of age will be treated. Everyone was already in line waiting for the procedure, organized by the Belo Horizonte Health Department.

This type of cancer is the second leading cause of death due to the disease. The National Cancer Institute (INCA) expects 45,000 new cases to appear between 2023 and 2025. If detected early, there is a 90% chance of recovery.
