A stoppage-time goal gives Cape Verde a shock victory over Ghana in the World Cup

Cape Verde beat Ghana 2-1 on Sunday in their first match in Group B of the African Cup of Nations (CAN'2023), with Gary Rodriguez scoring the winner in stoppage time.

In a match held at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, the Cape Verdean national team began to fully control its opponent and scored the equalizer in the 17th minute through Jamiro Monteiro.

Ghana, the team with four victories in this competition and one of the favorites to lift the cup again, reacted in the first half and created some scoring opportunities, even putting the ball past Cape Verde, in a move that was ruled out for offside.

In the second half, the Ghanaians came out stronger and equalized in the 56th minute, through a header by Dzeko, who responded in the best way to take a corner kick.

In the last minutes of the match, the Cape Verdean team, as the Cape Verdean team is known, pressed more and created good chances, but only scored the winning goal in the 90th + 1 minute, through Gary Rodriguez, who entered the goal. Part two.
