After years of non-launch, Apple is planning to revive the product introduced by Jobs

Apple foreign suppliers (AAPL34) has ramped up production of the company's long-awaited new iPads and the company plans to launch the product in early May, according to people familiar with the matter.

The launch will focus on renewed versions of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, according to sources interviewed on the condition of anonymity because the plans are not public. How did you bring it? The move marks the end of the longest period without the launch of a new model in the history of the iPad, which Apple co-founder Steve Jobs first introduced in 2010. After a spike during the pandemic, iPad sales have declined in each of Apple's last two fiscal years, which run through September. They suffered an additional 25% year-over-year decline during the past holiday season, when devices were typically popular gifts. When asked, an Apple spokesperson declined to comment.

iPad Pro models – the J717, J718, J720 and J721 – will run the new M3 chip and will work with redesigned versions of Magic keyboard (keyboard) and Apple Pencil (Pencil created by the company). The update represents the first revision to this table since 2018.

The iPad Air, in turn, was last updated in 2022 with the M1 chip. It will get a new processor, and the 12.9 screen size means consumers will be able to get a big iPad for less money than the fancier Pro. The current iPad Air starts at $599, while the Pro line costs an additional $200.

Apple had planned to launch the new iPads by the end of March or early April, but the company is working on finalizing the hardware program. The screens in newer models also require new and complex manufacturing techniques, which has contributed to the delay.

The product launch in early May will come about a month before Apple's next big event. On June 10, the company plans to launch a week-long Worldwide Developers Conference. There, Apple is expected to unveil a renewed AI strategy – along with software updates for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and the Vision Pro headset.
