Amazon announced on Wednesday (12) an update to two models of its smart screens: the Echo Show 5 and 8, and is also introducing a child-oriented version of the model with a smaller screen. Much like the previous generation products, the biggest change in both devices is the quality and resolution that the cameras use.

Starting with the biggest change, starting with this new generation, Echo Show 8 begins to accompany people on a video call. This feature is far from providing an experience with the moving parts of the 10-inch screen, as the technology that Amazon uses for this new product takes advantage of the high-resolution sensor to crop and move the frame through the software – more or less electronic image stabilizers.

The Echo Show 8 camera is capable of making cutouts and motions of light from the 13 megapixels present in the sensor, the same resolution chosen for this component in the last and large Echo Show 10.

Another technology used to convey the feeling of a moving camera is the lens with a wider viewing angle. In addition to moving one way or the other, the new generation of Amazon’s smart screen can also zoom in to focus on the speaker’s face.

The new generation Echo Show 8 also won an eight-core processor that maintains the same screen resolution and speakers on the back. The group has not lost resources, such as integration with Alexa and the ability to show movies and series services like Prime Video, Netflix or even YouTube – the latter with the help of the browser, in an experience far from private.

The second generation Echo Show 8 will go on sale next month, at a cost of $ 129.99.

Echo Show 5 is getting the kids’ version and getting cheaper

In addition to Echo Show 8, her younger, more famous and economical sister received a new generation this year. In the new model, the Echo Show 5 gets camera resolution improvements (twice its size, going from 1 to 2 megapixels), but still isn’t able to offer the same cutouts and zooms possible for video calls in a larger gadget.

The June Echo Show 8 launch date is the same for two versions of Echo Show 5. There are still no expectations for any products to be launched in Brazil.
