Senegal secured qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in a tie between the two best African teams. In the first leg, the Egypt team led by Carlos Queiroz won at home, 1-0, this Tuesday, Senegal also won 1-0, the total legs equal, and in the penalty lottery, Senegal was happier. .

Senegal entered the match very well, scoring after only four minutes, through Boulaye Dia, as a result of defensive inattention on the part of the Pharaohs. The match was well-balanced, with the men of the house being more dangerous, and goalkeeper El-Shennawy taking the lead.

In the second half, the signal was more than Senegal, as Egypt managed to respond when Carlos Queiroz changed the team, especially when Zizou fired in the 69th minute, which quickly created two good chances to score. The men of the house reacted well, and they ended up at the top, and once again, El-Shinawy is the savior of the nation.

Arriving in extra time, there was a lot of suffering in the midfield, with Senegal always creating more danger near the Pharaohs’ goal.

In the penalty shootout, the first four penalty kicks were missed – Koulibaly and Sess for Senegal, Salah and Zizou for Egypt – then Sar (Senegal), Amr Al-Soulia (Egypt), Mendy saving a shot by Mostafa Mohamed, and finally Sadio. Mane seals the corridor from Senegal to Qatar!

Thus, Carlos Queiroz failed to qualify for what would be his fourth consecutive participation as a coach in the World Cup, having achieved it with Portugal and Iran (twice).
