Barcelona will take legal action against Atletico Madrid regarding Antoine Griezmann. According to ‘Mundo Deportivo’, the Catalans are aware that the players have already fulfilled the conditions necessary to implement the mandatory purchase clause for the French international and, therefore, they have to pay the agreed 40 million euros. This condition, as Barcelona makes clear, was only to play, last season, more than 50% of the match minutes he had, which would have taken place. For Blaugrana’s legal wing, the loan season took place in 2021/22, with the possibility of extending it to 2022/23, which will only happen if Griezmann achieves that percentage of matches. Therefore, the fact that the player now always enters after 60 minutes – in what is supposed to be a ploy on the part of the capital club to avoid triggering the mandatory purchase clause – no longer makes sense, for Barcelona, the purchase was made at the last time.
