Barnaiba Parliamentary School promotes ‘Talking About ADHD’ Lecture and Clarifies Doubts About the Disorder

With the aim of promoting discussion about everyday issues that we face at home, in schools, at work and in our daily lives, the School of Parliament of the Santana de Parnaíba City Council presented, on Wednesday, July 19, in the Antonio Branco Auditorium, the lecture “Talking about ADHD” – Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity, delivered by Dr. Esther Mora.

In the exhibition d. Esther talked about the criteria that make a person diagnosed with the condition, such as inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, but cautioned that only a neuropsychiatrist can accurately attest to whether or not a patient has ADHD. He also cautioned against the problem of self-diagnosis, which people make, based on evidence and publications available on the Internet, which can in fact be misleading, as other diseases have similar characteristics that can confuse and make proper treatment difficult. When in doubt, it is recommended to seek professional help, which includes a psychiatrist, psychiatrist, and neuropsychiatrist, among other professionals.

ADHD is a chronic neurological disorder and must be treated in multiple ways, combining medication, psychotherapy, and speech therapy (when there are also speech and/or writing disorders); Guidance for parents and teachers.
