Białystok. The roof of the church caught fire

– The painted ceiling in the upper church was partially submerged in water. The lower church was also flooded. Due to the situation, the temple is closed until the entry ban is lifted. On Wednesday (April 21) the roof of the temple caught fire. More specifically, the wooden beams that make up the structure of the roof. To get to them, firefighters had to remove more than half of the tin cover. The fire did not spread inside the church because the roof structure is on a concrete roof.

Parishioners who saw the fire said there had been fundraising for the reconstruction of the roof in recent years. The renovation took almost two years. Now it will have to be updated again.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. – An expert in the field of firefighting has been appointed – says Katarcina Sarseka, an activist from the municipal police headquarters in Piastok.

Initially estimated by the fire department, the losses were half a million slots. – Although the beams are not fully burned, it is doubtful whether they will be allowed for further use. Like sheet metal roofs, it resists corrosion when heated to high temperatures, for example, says Brick. Markin Janowski, of the provincial headquarters of the State Fire Service in Piastoc.

At 3pm a notice came to the firefighters – Belki must have been smoking for a long time. When we arrived, we saw fire escaping in the gaps between the plates. The firefight lasted until 20:00. The area was guarded for the next two and a half hours. We tested – using thermal imaging cameras – to see if there were any more fires – says the firefighter.

At the climax, 18 firefighters took part in the operation. In addition to those from the BSP Biastok, there were also friends of the volunteer fire brigade of Jorna Pianostoka and Vasilkov.
