UEFA and CONMEBOL opened a joint office in London on Monday, whose foundation organizes football events and collaborates in areas such as refereeing and coaching.
“We are the two continents with the greatest traditions and prestige in the most popular sport on the planet. “On the field, we are loyal competitors, but understanding that football is a powerful force for tolerant, peaceful and pluralistic societies,” said Alejandro Dominguez, president of the Confederation of American Football.
Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, insisted that the relationship between European and South American football’s governing bodies was “easy to build”, as they “share the same love and passion for football.
It should be noted that the first sporting event organized by the two entities is scheduled to be held on the 1st of June at Wembley Stadium in London. It’s the Finalissima, a match between the 2021 Copa America champions, Argentina, and the Euro-2020 champion, Italy.
