CER II teams promote fun activities with patients to raise awareness about Parkinson's disease – Barreras City Hall

In celebration of World Parkinson's Day, teams from the Specialized Rehabilitation Center Anibal Barbosa Filho (CER II) held an awareness moment on Tuesday (16) among patients treated in the health unit.

The program included an information lecture on the characteristics of Parkinson's disease and treatment possibilities, as well as the goals of the multidisciplinary team regarding these patients, with special priority given to regaining independence and autonomy. A dialogue session was also held for socialization and expression of feelings through art therapy.

According to the Managing Director of the CER II Centre, Fernanda Delgado, about 15 patients with the disease receive systematic monitoring by a multidisciplinary team in the unit. However, it highlights that not everyone is aware that this support is available and can be enjoyed for free.

“It is important for people with Parkinson's to know that we are ready to welcome them appropriately and place them in CER II, a rehabilitation center where skills such as independence are worked on, and they receive support from psychologists, physiotherapists and neurologists,” says Fernanda. CER II maintains a care network designed to care for patients in Barreras and 36 other municipalities in the west.
