Cova da Piedade and BSAD club announced the cancellation of the merger agreement signed in March 2023, with the aim of forming a new sports company to compete in professional competitions, the club announced on Thursday.

The two parties met “to redefine the goals and the form of continuing the partnership,” after they chose to end the engagement. Cova da Piedade revealed in a statement that “that meeting resulted in mutual agreement and with complete transparency, honesty and friendship, that throughout this period in which he presided over the club / SAD relations, the conditions for the continuation of the joint project were not met.” statement.

It should be noted that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) recently rejected an injunction from the new company to prevent League Two from resuming without BSAD being reincorporated. Cova da Piedade intended to replace BSAD in national competitions, but in this way he would resume the club’s senior football team from Division II of the AF Setúbal region.

BSAD, which participated in the second Spanish league in the 2022/23 season, was relegated to the third division. Acceptance of the precautionary measure presented in the TAD to continue the national competitions.
