Deloitte bets on two new technology centers in Portugal to create up to 2,000 jobs – expert

Deloitte will open two new centers for technology and digital transformation in Portugal, and expects to create between 1,500 to 2,000 jobs over the next four years, surpassing the 6,000 mark. The bet will allow to expand its national network of offices and the teams from the two centers will be distributed in the cities of Braga, Coimbra, Faro, Leiria and Setúbal.

According to the company, the centers, named Global Technology Solutions Center of Excellence and Global Telecom Networks of Excellence, represent an enhancement of the commitment to Portugal, and also contribute to the country’s economic growth, as Antonio Lagartixo, CEO and Managing Partner of Deloitte Portugal, emphasized in a statement.

“The centers of excellence will mostly be aimed at providing services around the world, with a particular focus on the European and North American markets,” the official explains, and working “in an integrated way with other centers in Deloitte’s global network.”

The company intends to hire highly qualified new employees, with skills in the field of information and communication technology. Strengthening the teams also includes hiring staff from other knowledge areas that can adapt to the specific needs of the two new positions. This includes professionals with different levels of experience who come from upskilling and reskilling programmes.

The company notes that the Global Center of Excellence for Technology Solutions, on the one hand, will combine the expertise of Portuguese specialists with the knowledge of other Deloitte geographies to provide advisory services in technology innovation, implementation and digital transformation.

On the other hand, the Center of Excellence for Global Communications Networks will focus on the design, implementation and operation of corporate networks that respond to the business needs of companies, taking advantage of technologies such as 5G, WiFi 6 or SD-WAN. The center will also have an associated cybersecurity center that will provide services for the implementation and operation of security platforms.
