Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, who tops the world rankings, was defeated again, on Wednesday, in a match held in Australia, after 43 consecutive victories, when he lost to Australian Alex de Minaur, in the United Cup.

In Perth, De Minaur, ranked 12th in the professional tennis rankings, defeated Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 34 minutes, achieving his first victory over the Serbian, who complained of an injury to his right arm and wrist during the match. .

“I've been feeling uncomfortable for two days. During yesterday's meeting [terça-feira] It has gotten worse, especially today. But I don't want to waste too much time on this and take advantage of Alex's victory,” he said after the quarter-finals of the United Cup, a mixed tournament for national teams.

This was Noll's first defeat in Australia since his loss in 2018 in the round of 16 of the Australian Open to South Korean Hyun Chung.

Since then, Djokovic has reeled off 43 consecutive victories in the Southern Hemisphere nation, winning, among other titles, four times the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Djokovic's defeat ended up undermining Serbia's continuation in the competition, as Ajla Tomljanovic, ranked 292nd in the world, confirmed Australia's presence in the semi-finals, by defeating Natalia Stefanovic, ranked 184th, with a score of 6-1.
