Signed by the incomparable Christopher Nolan, The Beginning (in Portuguese, the original) gave viewers a topic for discussion. More than 10 years after the film’s premiere, the director and producer finally decided to explain the ending of the film.

the movie beginning He accompanies Dominic Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a thief who manages to steal secrets, violating the consciousness of the victims, while they sleep.  On a journey between dream and reality, the protagonist receives what is supposed to be his final mission.
As he tries to make it happen, Dominic sees some of his secrets exposed and finds an increasingly mysterious truth.  In the end, in a deliberate play by Christopher Nolan, the state of the protagonist is blurred, leaving it up in the air: is this a dream or reality?

Throughout the entire movie, the spinning top is used to get a sense of whether someone is dreaming or if the event is happening in reality.  Now, the debate has been raging for more than 10 years, as in one of the final scenes Dominic returns home from a mission and reunites with his family.  At that moment and until the movie ends, the top does not stop spinning.
In an interview with the magazine WiredChristopher Nolan finally explained:

The End of Incorporation is just that.  There is a nihilistic point of view to this end, right?  But he, too, moved in with his kids.  Mystery is not emotional.  It is intellectual for the audience.

Nihilism comes from the Latin term "nihil" which means "nothing".  It is a philosophical current that poses a problem with the meaninglessness of human existence, believes in emptiness and is based on skepticism, and is devoid of positivist and materialistic rules and ideas.  In short, it is a denial of any and all religious, social and political principles.
