Four died when the billboards collapsed

An advertising banner fell during a severe thunderstorm in Mumbai. At least four people died, and more than 40 others are feared to be trapped under the rubble, according to Indian police.

At least 60 people were injured in the accident that occurred in the Indian financial capital on Monday. Local authorities say there are fears more than 40 people may be trapped under the huge banner and the homes and vehicles that fell on it.

The accident occurred on a busy road in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar amid heavy rain and strong winds.

A major rescue operation is currently underway for people who are presumed to be missing.

Mumbai Police said the fallen painting was 70 x 50 metres.
