On Thursday, December 23, the French company Icade Santé bought the entire SaudeInveste fund, owned by Fidelidade, for 213 million euros. The portfolio consists of four private hospitals, three of which belong to the Lusíadas Group and the other to HPA Saúde. In a statement, Icade noted that this is Portugal’s first investment.
The three properties comprising the units of Lusíadas Group Hospitals are located in Lisbon, Porto and Albufeira, the other property being Privado S. Gonçalo Hospital, in Lagos, which belongs to the HPA Saúde Group.
The French group confirmed in the statement that the four hospitals have a total area of 90,000 square meters and exceed 500 beds.
Leases applicable to these assets will be held for an average of eight years, which, according to Icade, “allows immediate cash flow generation.”
Lusíadas, a subsidiary of the UnitedHealth Group, has 12 units in Portugal, including, in addition to the above, a hospital in Braga and a hospital in Cascais, in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP).
The HPA Saúde Group operates six private hospitals in Algarve, Alentejo and Madeira.
Icade Santé has invested nearly 880 million euros this year, well above the goals set by the group, which were between 450 and 500 million euros.
The group’s plan foresees an investment of three billion euros up to 2025, after about 30% has already been invested.
