Frighteningly high vet bill: His puppy drowned

A 49-year-old New Jersey woman pleaded guilty Thursday to animal cruelty after a golden retriever was found immersed in a cage in a pond near the small town of West Milford, the Guardian reported. Prosecution in Passaic County.

The accident is said to have occurred in 2019, and the reason must be that the woman was afraid she would have to pay expensive veterinary bills, after the puppy she had recently adopted fell ill, the local newspaper wrote. North Jersey.

According to the local newspaper, the woman explained that she panicked when the puppy first fell ill. Instead of taking her to the vet, she drove to the secluded lake, and lowered the pup into a crate in the water.

– Did you know that the ground was frozen, and it was difficult to bury it, so you decided to lower the dog into the pond? I asked a woman’s lawyer during a digital trial.

– Yes, she replied.

According to a Facebook post from the animal protection group The last animal rescue resort The pup was found “dead and ice cold”.

The woman cried within 20 minutes of the trial. She admitted that the dog had been breathing, “but had been lying there” for hours before dropping him into the lake.

When asked why she panicked, the woman’s lawyer responded that she booked a vet appointment for the dog, but ultimately decided not to go due to concerns about high vet bills.

According to the local newspaper, the attorney general is asking the court to impose a sentence of 180 days in prison, five years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and continued mental health counseling. However, the lawyer will seek to make the punishment conditional, so that the client does not have to spend time.

Women are no longer allowed to own a dog.
