fuel. Prices go up again on Monday

New year, old problems: Fuel prices rose again on Monday, with growth of up to two cents in diesel and three cents in gasoline.

An industry source told Multinews: “The development of prices in euros indicates a rise in the price of diesel by up to two cents per liter, while the price of gasoline should register an increase of up to 3 cents per liter.”

It must be remembered that the evolution of costs depends, however, on each filling station, the brand and the region in which it is located.

There are changes for this year. The price of fuel is a real rise and fall and varies every week depending on the prices of raw materials. And although quotations may change from station to station – since the price set on the network must also take into account the level of competition and supply and demand in each market – it is certain that in this past year, the values have reached record values.

Consumers will pay a new carbon tax of €0.54 on petrol and €0.58 on diesel. But drivers will have to prepare for other climbs.

The carbon tax freeze ends in March, and the Portuguese Association of Oil Companies (Apetro) reports an increase of four to five cents a liter (excluding VAT), from that time on.

The tax on petroleum and energy products (ISP) is also expected to increase by one cent per liter in the case of diesel and two cents per liter in the case of gasoline.
