When you right-click on an image, “Find Image Using Google Lens” opens a side panel instead of a new tab. This is the same side panel you have for your bookmarks and reading list, because clicking the icon between your extensions and your profile picture will hide them. The main window will then be resized, but never abandoned.
What appears is similar to the full screen experience, with the image taking up most of the panel. The “Find Image Source” option appears above to open Google Image search results, while you can switch between the search, text, and translation options below… but nothing like the example:
Visually, the panel on the right and the general screen can resemble the mobile experience. The side panel also appears when Google Lens is turned on without having to consider a specific image.
The new version is now being launched, is already available to many users, and will be gradually available to everyone over the next few weeks.
