Google is denying some employees access to the Internet

Published on

Google has launched a program within its company with the aim of enhancing the overall security of its infrastructure. During the testing phases, some employees who hold key positions, or have confidential access to data on their servers, had their Internet access restricted or completely cut off.

The access of other employees of the company will be restricted to the functions of their workstations, with the occasional impossibility of launching system administration commands or installing software … Security reinforcement seems extreme, but it makes sense because cyber attacks are increasingly targeting employees of technology giants.

Thus Google notes in a note sent to all its employees that “Google employees are often the target of attacks”. If an employee’s personal computer or smartphone is hacked, the risk of spread is high, leading to incidents that can have serious consequences.

The Internet is a potential hotbed for security issues

Attacks made via the Internet are increasing more and more, and “cutting off” that part of those who have access to key areas is just another security measure. However, the cut must be made for devices that are part of the company’s organized network, and nothing prevents another device (outside the network) from being available so that they can access the Internet.
