On one of her first outings, Gypsy was seen shopping with her husband. She was even photographed trying on shoes.

The young woman previously revealed that she regretted conspiring with her then-boyfriend Nicolas Godejohn to kill her mother, because her mother “did not deserve it.”

“I was desperate to get out of this situation. Recall that the young woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016 for her role in the murder of her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who was killed by her then-boyfriend, Nicolas Godejohn, the previous year.

Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder in which a caregiver makes someone sick or creates the illusion that that person is sick in order to get attention. Thus, the gypsy would have had to use a wheelchair and an oxygen tank, while she did not need these devices. Throughout her life, the young woman also received treatment for diseases she did not have, including leukemia, asthma and muscular dystrophy.

“No one will hear me say I'm glad she died or that I'm proud of what she did. I regret it every day. […] She doesn't deserve it. She was a sick woman, and unfortunately, I wasn't educated enough to realize that. Speaking to the same outlet, he added: “She deserved to be where I am in prison.”

When Gypsy recalled the years of abuse she suffered, she realized that, even as a child, she knew she could walk and didn't need a feeding tube, but her mother had confused her.

“Whenever I asked, my mother said I had a seizure the night before and didn't remember it. There was always an excuse,” he said, noting that as he grew older, Dee Dee became progressively more violent.

The decision to kill his mother came before he underwent another unnecessary throat procedure. Gypsy ran away from home, but Dee Dee found her a few hours later, having prepared documents proving that her daughter was in her custody, despite being of legal age. When she spoke to Nick, whom she met online, the young man assured her that he would do everything to protect her.

“I'm on the eve of happiness. I'm still trying to forgive her and myself for this situation. I still love my mom and I'm starting to understand that it was out of her control, like an addict with an impulse. I consider this to help me deal with what happened.”

After the murder, authorities discovered that Dee Dee had lied about the age of her daughter, whom she said was a teenager with the mind of a 7-year-old, not only to gain favor in the community, but also to receive disability payments and gifts. From charitable organizations.

In 2016, Gypsy accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Nicholas, who carried out the murder while the young woman was hiding in the bathroom, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Also before her release, Gypsy revealed to TMZ that she intends to meet singer Taylor Swift, having already purchased tickets to a New Year's Eve game for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team of American football player and artist friend Travis Kelce. According to the young woman, Taylor Swift's songs helped her overcome the shock, and she is also planning to buy tickets for The Eras Tour, which is supposed to pass through New Orleans in October 2024.

Gypsy is also expected to release the e-book, “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom,” on January 9, through Penguin Random House, after “watching her story told over and over again by other people.”

Remember, Gypsy and Dee Dee were the stars of the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, as well as the Hulu miniseries The Act.
