Health workers from the municipalities that are part of the Regional Health Supervision Authority (SRS) of Coronel Fabriciano participated, on 10/9, in a training that provided guidance on the use of Chagas disease and schistosomiasis control programs and computerized systems that adopt a standardization strategy among all the health departments of the municipality. The meeting was held in the Health Department Hall of the Municipality of Coronel Fabriciano.

The training was attended by professionals who work as references for endemic diseases in the municipalities. During the orientation, topics related to Chagas disease and schistosomiasis were addressed, such as the evolutionary cycle of the causative agents, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, reporting criteria, clinical and epidemiological criteria, and adoption of the methodology recommended by the Ministry of Health (MS).

Topics related to field work techniques and protection of agents in terms of safety and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) were also covered. Part of the training also covered topics related to statistical data with recording of activities in specific computerized systems: the Localities System (SISLOC); the Schistosomiasis Control Program System (SISPCE); the Chagas Disease Control Program System (SISPCDCH).

The entire training was presented by Edilson Ignacio Vieira, a health educator who highlighted the importance of the participation of professionals in the training. He explained that “the participation of all the elements involved is of utmost importance so that the procedures are implemented in a uniform manner, as determined by the methodology applied to the aforementioned programs, which is the methodology recommended by the Ministry of Health.”
