This Wednesday (20) is the last day to register turn Bachelor’s degree in Science and Technology from Ilum, a graduate science school affiliated with CNPEM (National Center for Research in Energy and Materials) and linked to MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation).
The course is completely free, funded by the Ministry of Education. Within three years of graduation, students study mathematical languages, data sciences, humanities, materials sciences and life sciences.
At the school, which is based in Campinas, students have the possibility to combine theory with practice in CNPEM laboratories. Moreover, they have contact with professional and experienced researchers.

Opened in 2022, Ilum offers only one course: Science and Technology, at bachelor’s level. Since then, the idea has been to train capable young scientists and advance their careers in science in Brazil.
“Today, the big questions in science span several fields, and the professional who will stand out is the one who has this vision for science as a whole to search for solutions,” comments Adalberto Fazio, physicist and director of Ilum.

About the selection process
“Curious. Insomniac. Questioner. Who enjoys all areas of science, who have their own ideas, ask questions and look for answers to them. According to Ilum itself, this is the profile of a student required at the school.”
In all, there are 40 spots open for the school’s third graduating class — half of which are reserved for students who attended high school in public schools. To do this, the selection process involves filling out a form, where candidates must explain why they want to study science at Ilum.
Other stages of selection include summarizing the Enem score and an individual interview. The school then accredits those with the best grades in all levels.
