Intel Senior Vice President Raja M. Kodori gave an interview where he shared the company’s vision for metaverses.

In addition to the company’s vice president, Koduri is the general manager of the Accelerated Computing (AXG) and Graphics Systems Group, as well as at the Intel Corporation. He currently leads a business unit tasked with providing primarily enterprise-grade high-performance computing and graphics solutions.

In the past, Koduri has worked for AMD and Apple in their graphics chipset divisions. In other words, its relationship to basic computing holds a great deal of knowledge, which is used to explain a thriving segment of the 2021 market, a sector metaverso.

However, a “bucket of cold water” was thrown to many of those innovation enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the news, in an interview with Intel’s Vice President at quartz.

Raja Kodori said he understands the basics of the metaverse, as does Intel, but that the infrastructure to fully support this functionality would have to evolve a thousand times over.

According to him, personal computers are getting better, as are smartphone devices. Even the cloud was one of the prominent features of the CEO, who believes that even then everything is not enough to use the metaverse on a large scale.

One of the necessary steps to tackle metaverse graphs specifically is chip optimization, something that has been done for the past five years. In other words, even with Facebook beginning its journey into space now in 2021, Koduri notes that Intel has been monitoring the metaverse for five years and how to make chips for the market.

“Once we build the feeder roads, it will be possible to have fun in this market. We will start deployments in 2022, but computing takes four to five years to be really fast.”

Focusing on the future of the metaverse, Raja told QZ he hopes the space will be much more than just a place to meet. According to him, people will be able to conduct numerous interactions and even perform tasks together, in games with results and the like.

When asked about the role of WEB 3.0 and its concept of decentralization interconnected with the metaverse, the vice president of Intel stated that he hopes to use cryptocurrencies in the environment, which would be amazing.

“This is also a hot topic. But I think that the decentralization of computing and the mechanisms by which we can deal more easily with each other will help us multiply metavirs. So the web 3 component, decentralization, also if we use cryptocurrency as it exists today or some other form, Some form of a micro-transaction payment system that is integrated into the protocols, that would be amazing.”

The engineer also explained that the blockchain will be essential to the metaverse. Despite this, the world’s chip shortage and some other challenges in the technology need to be resolved in order for the expected equation to reach mass adoption.
