Third edition of MEO Kalorama Returns to Parque da Bela Vista on August 29, 30 and 31 Music poster.
The program, which will soon be completed with more musical and visual artists, brings together Burna Boy Affirmations, Ray, Lowell Carner, Fever Ray, Gossip, Philip Cato, Galen Ngonda, Olivia Deen, Amy Curl, Unsafe Space Garden, Soulwax, Yves Tumor, Bandalos Chinos, Claudia Pascoal, dEUS, Luiza Lian and Moonchild Sanelly to the already confirmed Massive Attack, Sam Smith, LCD Soundsystem, The Smile, Peggy Gou, Jungle and The Kills, among many others.
Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, who turned Afrobeats into a global music phenomenon, closed out the third day of MEO Kalorama, August 31, with a celebration of his mix of dance, hip-hop, R&B and Afrobeat. On the same day, Ray, winner of the 2024 Brit Award, will perform songs from her first album, “My 21st Century Blues.”
Joining these are headliners on the final day of the festival and already confirmed Yard Act and Ana Moura, Soulwax, pioneers of electro-techno; Yves Tomor, whose experimental style considers centrifugal electronica, post-punk sounds, glam, and perhaps soul, why not pop; Argentine indie sextet Bandalos Chinos; Claudia Pascual, Portuguese singer and author of Nasque Maria, who performs her “strange” show; In addition to the classics, dEUS is expected to present the 2023 album “How To Replace It”; Brazilian singer, songwriter and visual artist Luisa Lien; and South African Moonchild Sanelly, who sings in Xhosa and English, and describes her music as “ghetto punk of the future.”
Olivia Deen, one of the most nominated artists for the 2024 Brit Awards, will perform on the festival's second day, August 30. On this day, when LCD Soundsystem, The Smile, Death Cab For Cutie + The Postal Service, Jungle, Ezra Collective, The Kills, English Teacher, Glockenwise and Nation of Language have already been confirmed, Portuguese Emmy Curl, singer, composer and visual artist artist, and Unsafe Space Garden, a band known for their acoustic and experimental performances.
Opening the third edition of MEO Kalorama, on August 29, British presenter Lowell Carner performs introspective hip-hop music. On the same day, two new women joined the female roster, which already included Anna Loua Caiano and Peggy Gou, Karen Dreger with Fever Ray – the solo project of the lead singer of The Knife, which is finally passing through Lisbon to live stream their latest album Radical Romantics – and Beth Ditto with Gossip – who return to the albums with “Real Power” and to the stage, after a hiatus of more than a decade. Finally, Felipe Cato and Jalen Ngonda bolster the program for the first three days of the celebration, with Massive Attack, Sam Smith, Overmono and Vagabon already confirmed.
MEO Kalorama is organized by Last Tour, a cultural and social activist.
