The “American Independence” fundraising event invited the most prominent celebrities to celebrate American fashion.
Andrew Bolton, Curator of the Fashion Institute, explained to Vogue magazine The event is being held this year on a small scale due to the pandemic and aims to highlight the best of what has been done in national fashion.
“I have been influenced by American designers’ responses to the social and political climate, particularly on issues of physical inclusion and gender fluidity. […] I think young designers in particular are at the forefront of discussions about diversity and inclusion, as well as about sustainability and transparency, much more than their European peers.”
Therefore, the red carpet is expected to display flashy models of national creatives.
Kylie Jenner will be the big absentee for tonight. The star, who was one of the most anticipated stars at the event, regretted, on Monday afternoon, that she was unable to attend.
