Portuguese cyclist Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) today finished twelfth in the sprint race of the Dutch MotoGP Grand Prix, the eighth round of this season.

The Almada driver crossed the finish line 16.082 seconds behind the Italian winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), the defending champion who started from pole position and beat the championship leader, the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) by 2.355 seconds with his Spanish compatriot Maverick Vinales in third place with 4.103.

Miguel Oliveira, who started from 17th on the grid, was up to 10th on the last of the 13 laps of this sprint race, but found himself overtaken, in the final corners, by Spaniard Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati).

The race, which was held on the track considered the cathedral of motorcycles in the city of Assen, witnessed several accidents, most notably the Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati) in the first laps, and the Spaniard Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) in the last lap.

Francesco Bagnaia was unemotional and intractable, dominating every session of the Dutch Grand Prix.

“It's unbelievable. I love it. We're doing great. Winning in Assen is always great.

With these results, Bagnaia reduced the gap with the championship leader by three points. Jorge Martin maintains the lead with 180 points, 15 points behind the Italian and world champion.

Miguel Oliveira remained in 15th place with 31 points.

On Sunday the main race is held.
