The Faculty of Science of Minho University (ECUM) will celebrate its 47th anniversary next Monday, February 21, from 15:00, in Hall B1 of the Gualtar Campus, in Braga, and webcast on your page Youtube.

The session began with an intervention by the President of ECUM, José Manuel Gonzalez Megumi. This is followed by awarding awards of appreciation for the performance and excellence of its members in the previous year at various levels and awards of the school. Joao Lopez, Mathematics and Computing Graduate and Vice President value for customers From Oracle Retail, then leads the “Science in a Global World” lecture. The intervention of the dean of UMinho, Rui Vieira de Castro, closes the program.

During the afternoon it will also be possible to attend three cultural moments tournament of ECUM teachers and students. Francisco Carvalho, PhD student in molecular and environmental biology and member of rock after Pop-up stars, Hernani Giros, professor in the Department of Biology, and Anna Castro, master’s student in Biodiversity, Environment and Global Change, will take the stage at the musical performances. The session ends around 17:30, at Mina Sharaf.

ECUM will also be holding an art exhibition from February 21-26, in the Hall of Building 2 of the Gualtar Campus, with the creations of six members from the school – Professors Alexandra Nobre, Carlos Tavares, Jose Carlos Costa and Nuno Castro, student Ana Clara Cavalcante and Technologist Cristina Ribeiro. From photography to crochet, from drawing to sculpture, and from illustration to handicrafts, this exhibition explores the intersection of creativity and science, in an initiative aimed at enhancing the artistic and cultural production of the College of Science community, and bringing it into the public space.
