The Government of Goiás, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti), met with representatives of higher education institutions in Goiás, this Wednesday (28), at HUB Goiás, to discuss the next stages of the Director of the State Higher Education Plan.

The Master Plan is a document intended to guide the general policies of higher education in Goiás, which includes private and public institutions, of all fields, with the aim of maintaining a structure of goals over the next ten years. The organized part of the document was presented on Wednesday to representatives, who were able to read, discuss and make suggestions.
Secti President José Frederico Lira Nieto highlighted what has been accomplished so far. “We launched the Master Plan in August 2022. Since then, there have been interviews and studies on this topic, and a lot of progress has been made. We are now ready to start public hearings. We already have the material to be published, but the idea is to start a broad discussion.”

For him, higher education should be available to Goianos, with the assurance that a master plan can help with the issue of access as well. “Expectations are high, because we know that higher education should not be the privilege of a group of people, as it used to be, but a space for growth.”

The meeting with universities and other institutions was a step before the core document was made publicly available on Secti’s website to collect proposals, which are scheduled for July, and public hearings in August. The hearings will be held in the 11 municipalities of Goiás, located in the planning regions: Goiânia, Annapolis, Oroaço, Cidade de Goiás, Rio Verde, Jatay, Catalau, Itumbiara, Valparaíso de Goiás, Bosé and São Luis de Montes Pelos.
