Mortal Kombat 1 was announced in September

Warner Bros. announced. Games and developer NetherRealm Studios, with a release date of September 19th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC.

With the promise of an exciting storyline, Mortal Kombat 1 will be the beginning of a new era, as many popular characters will return in completely new guises. Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage are the first confirmed names.

Kameo fighters have also been announced, which will help you fight for new gameplay mechanics.

Warner Bros. NetherRealm has confirmed that it’s working on PS5 and Xbox Series versions, but it’s collaborating with QLOC on the PC version, and with Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive on the Nintendo Switch version.

Players who are extremely excited to play Mortal Kombat 1 can choose the Premium Edition, or Kollector’s Edition, which includes early access, to start playing on September 14th. Those who pre-ordered the game will be guaranteed access to the beta in August.

With the promise of adding cross-play and cross-platform progression post-launch, NetherRealm has also confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be reverting the network code to an online state.

Mortal Kombat 1 Standard Edition (physical and digital)

It costs €79.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and is set to launch on September 19th.

Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition (physical and digital)

It costs €109 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and is set to launch on September 14th.

Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition (Physics)

It costs €249 and will have the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions, and is set to launch on September 14th.

  • Early access to 6 DLC characters

Beta and access forms

NetherRealm has confirmed that it will be hosting a closed beta for those who pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

For now, we only know that closed beta is scheduled for August 2023.

Confirmed characters

NetherRealm Studios has already confirmed the first characters that will be in the game and it should be noted that Shang Tsung will have limited access. This legendary character will only be available to those who pre-order Mortal Kombat 1.
