Moscow: – Outbreak of bird flu

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, has quarantined 11 of the city’s 125 districts as a result of an outbreak of bird flu.

This was reported by an independent online newspaper Moscow Times.

According to the newspaper, the quarantine rules prevent residents from visiting the respective neighbourhoods.

Moreover, the Moscow Times writes that 21 outbreaks of bird flu have been recorded in Russia since the beginning of May.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the risk of transmission from birds to humans is low. There should also be no recorded human infection in Moscow.
