New infection record in Florida – Governor attacks infection control measures

On Saturday, Florida recorded 21,683 new cases of coronavirus. This is the state’s largest number of cases in a single day since the outbreak.

Florida is now the latest epicenter of the virus in the United States, accounting for 20 percent of all newly recorded cases in the country. Type News agency.

Records were set on Friday and posted on the CDC website on Saturday. The numbers show how sharp the increase in cases is in Florida – the day before, 17,093 new cases were recorded. The state’s previous infection record, 19,334, was recorded in January, long before the coronary artery vaccine was widely available.

While many states, including New York and California, have recently introduced vaccine restrictions or requirements for government employees, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is choosing to do the opposite.

Instead of tightening infection control rules, the Republican has limited the power of local governments to impose new local restrictions. On Friday, the governor also banned the introduction of bandages at Florida schools and universities at the start of the semester.

DeSanits is ready for re-election in 2022, and is one of many Republicans running for a potential presidential nomination in 2024. As part of the campaign trail, the Republican is taking a hard line against the new coronavirus restrictions, regularly attacking the United States’ leading expert on infection control, Anthony Fauci.

“It’s very important that we exclusively say no to shutdowns, no to school closures, no restrictions, no vaccine requirements,” DeSantis said during a Republican convention in Utah on Wednesday.

DeSantis also warns of “Facui dystopia,” and the governor’s rhetoric has many traits in common with another popular Republican. In a series of emails sent to potential campaign donors, DeSantis goes to the throat of Fauci, Democrats and the media.

– The media are Fauci’s bodyguards, and they are attacking me because I want to hold Fauci responsible, as stated in an email sent on Wednesday. This was followed by another frontal attack on Thursday:

— The party’s beloved bureaucratic and undemocratic leader, Dr. Fauci, who has assured us that vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear face masks, is now recommending vaccinated adults use face masks…again, the governor wrote.

Amusement parks take hold

While DeSantis fights with their beak and claws to keep society open, many of the country’s theme parks are taking hold. From Saturday onwards, both guests and staff at SeaWorld and Universal Studios must wear face masks inside the theme parks.

“The health and safety of our employees and guests is always our top priority,” Universal said in a statement.

At the same time, one of the state’s largest hospital operators is warning that they will halt non-essential operations entirely, freeing up resources for the many hospital patients with coronary heart disease.

The number of cases increased 50 percent in one week in The Sunshine State, and the number of hospitalizations is quickly on par with its peak last year.
