Monday morning, the Russian state reported RIA Novosti news agency President Vladimir Putin is holding an extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council.
Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying.
He also stated that Putin plans to hold phone talks on Monday, including with Prime Minister Olaf Scholz in Germany, according to the British newspaper, The Guardian. French news agency.
Going to a new meeting
On Monday evening, he announced a new meeting between Putin and US President Joe Biden. No date has been set for the meeting, but it is said that the meeting will deal with the conflict in Ukraine, and that the participants in the meeting will discuss security and strategic stability in Europe.
After news of the upcoming meeting, France said it now had diplomatic hopes for a solution, while Ukraine said it hoped a meeting between Putin and Biden would lead to a Russian withdrawal.
On the other hand, Peskov’s spokesman stated that it is too early to talk about concrete plans related to the upcoming summit.
Uncertain intentions
In recent months, Russia has reinforced significant forces on the border with Ukraine. Military maneuvers were also carried out, including in Belarus. The Secretary of State of the United States and Norway, Anneken Hoytfeldt (Labour), claimed that an invasion of Ukraine might be imminent.
