Google Maps has got a new color palette for its maps, which makes it difficult to distinguish roads from the background, parks and lakes, and it is likely that the search engine giant will not back down from the update. Waze did not want to be left behind and also tried to complicate life for users and this time I’m not talking about CarPlay dark mode issues. In fact, it’s much more annoying. At least for those who used this function. However, one of Waze’s main functions has disappeared after the latest update!

Waze is a very complete app. In fact, it has so many functions that we don’t even realize, in many cases, all that it can do. Integration with the calendar is one of them. It helps to plan everything and not forget anything.

If you’ve never used Waze’s calendar sync support, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. Once users set up the calendar integration, they can launch the app and see their appointments in Waze, with a shortcut to driving to the next meeting (provided the appointment address is preset). In addition, the destination of each appointment appears in the search results when you search for an address.

Based on the calendar data, the planned trips section also shows upcoming trips with related address information.

Waze’s latest update put an end to this. So, someone who travels very regularly and has multiple appointments has to open the calendar, expand the appointment, find the address, open it in Waze, select the route and start navigating. The process is complicated and not as convenient as having everything done automatically by Waze.

But is this really the end?

A Waze user on the Google forums claims to have contacted the development team and they have acknowledged that this was a bug. A recent update caused the bug, so the Waze developers are now working on a fix to get everything back to normal in the next version. No release date information is available, but the good news is that calendar integration is here to stay in Waze. At least for now, as Waze previously removed several features that suffered from low usage, including the iOS widget.
