Portosantense will play in Madeira and train… in Porto

Newly promoted to the Portuguese Championship, Portosantense will play as a visitor in Madeira and train… in Porto.

The team from the island of Porto Santo will not be able to train in their “home” because the field they usually use, Estádio José Lino Pestana, will undergo work. The solution was to borrow a ‘house’ in Madeira to play and in the Porto area to work during the week.

«It cannot be in Porto Santo, because the field will be subject to work. I believe that the public tender has not yet been issued, and this matter will be dealt with, and therefore, according to the information they gave us, at least it will be inapplicable between September and March 2024, which makes any activity on the buildings during that period useless, ”initiated by the club director. Jorge Machado, before revealing that the team “will be based in the Porto region.”

“We will play our matches as a visitor in the Italian league [do Campeonato de Portugal]which in principle is the place where we will be placed, and then we will go to Madeira to play games at home, ”he continued.

Jorge Machado assumes that the preference was to play in Porto Santo, but that is impossible. For this reason, the Centro Desportivo da Madeira «was the best that was found».

“The fans are sad and disappointed, but they understand the situation. We will have to go through this period a little bit away from our fans physically, but I know that those who can go to Madeira to watch the matches will also have the opportunity to watch in other ways.”
