Russia: Schoolchildren learn how to use Kalashnikovs

Russian schoolchildren between the ages of 15 and 17 will receive “basic military training” starting next school year, including the use of a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

This is about the 10th and 11th class in the Russian school – practically pupils from 15 to 17 years old.

– In the subject of “elements of basic military training”, training in military drills and salutes, weapons, including Kalashnikov assault rifles, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, as well as training in modern shooting and personal protective equipment, should be studied, as stated in the document.

The “coup” in Ukraine

Students will learn about the “coup” in Ukraine in 2014, the “reunification” of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia, the “special military operation” and subsequent sanctions from the United States and its allies. Novaya Gazeta.

History is an important subject, and according to the Ministry of Education, an eleventh-grade student should “understand the importance of Russia in the political, social and economic processes in the world from 1945 to 2022, know the achievements of the country and its people as well as understand the causes and consequences of the collapse of the Soviet Union.”

A course will also be held in “Basic Life Safety”, which covers, among other things, the basics of the army, how to protect the civilian population in “emergency situations”, combating terrorism and extremism and first aid.

At the beginning of this school year, Russian teachers received orders in the school curriculum that children should be told that the war in Ukraine is about “protecting the people of Donbass, who are being bullied and oppressed by the Kyiv regime.”
