The Municipal Health Department of São João da Barra, in Norte Fluminense, this Tuesday vaccinated 44 people who received a polio vaccine instead of the COVID-19 immunizing agents.
According to City Hall, the servant admitted that he got confused when separating the bottles. As soon as I realized the error, I stopped the vaccine application and notified the responsible sector. The employee has been removed until the investigation is complete.
Once the problem was noticed, the municipality reached out to all the people who received the dose and rescheduled the correct order for Tuesday.
According to the city council, the polio vaccine has no side effects and the state government has been replacing improperly applied doses.
