The wave of infection has really hit the United States. About 9,000 new patients with covid-19 are admitted every day. At the same time, according to figures from the National Institute of Public Health (CDC), 1,200 new deaths related to corona are recorded daily.

Among the many deaths, there are also a number of stories of fate. One of the last in a row is the story of fathers of four children, Alvaro Fernandez (44) and Silvia Fernandez (42) from California.

After they tested positive for coronavirus in mid-December, they became increasingly ill. A few days later, they were accepted, but the lives of the unvaccinated couple, who also had underlying illnesses, were not spared.

Within a few hours, they both died on December 19.

Their love story began when they were teenagers in school. Their love grew over the years, and eventually included the adorable children Emily, Daniel, Destiny, and Nicholas. Tragically, their love story ended abruptly after 25 years, Alvaro’s sister, Alma Hernandez, wrote regarding the fundraising campaign To support bereaved children.

According to the sister, her now deceased brother wanted to read more about research on the Corona vaccine before taking it himself, and tried to read and search for information. But nearly two years after the pandemic began, he still doesn’t feel confident that he knows enough about any side effects.

Five million cases

With the recent cases, California has become the first state in the United States with more than five million cases of coronavirus recorded. That means every eighth of the state’s population, which has a population of 40 million, has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

The first case of infection was detected in California on January 25, 2020. After 292 days, 1 million cases were recorded – a number that doubled over the next 44 days.

According to NBC Los Angeles, San Bernardino County alone has recorded nearly 400,000 cases of infection. In addition, more than 6,000 deaths related to the coronavirus have been reported.

The channel also notes that coronavirus-related hospitalizations have also increased slowly but surely across California in recent days, increasing by more than ten percent in the past week. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 75,000 deaths have been recorded among Corona patients in California.

Recent infection rates are still less than half the number seen during the wave of infections at the end of the summer, and a fifth of all recorded admissions to the state a year ago.
