Spain beats Portugal and retains the European title

This Saturday, Spain, for the sixth consecutive time, reclaimed the title of European champion in the women’s roller hockey game by defeating Portugal 5-3, in the final of the European Championship, which was held in Pavelhao Municipal de Luso, in Milhada.

In an emotional match in which more than half a thousand people took part in the stands, the Spanish team was put under severe pressure on the track and after 15 minutes it had already won 4-0.

The first goal was scored three minutes later by Aina Florence, and a minute later Laura Puigduita increased the difference, in an attacking movement.

And Sarah Roses, the Spanish national team’s top scorer in this European championship, increased to 3-0 in the 13th minute with a superb shot from the corner of the Portuguese goal.

The Spanish team, who now holds seven European titles, made it 4-0 in the 15th minute, via Marta Picero, in a half-track shot.

The national team, which reached the finals in these last five editions, was reduced to 23 minutes, by Marilyn Sousa.

In the second half, Portugal looked more dangerous, sending Spain to the middle of its path, and scored again in the 34th minute, through Rita Batista, with a great shot in the midfield.

A minute later, Spain was increased to 5-2 by Sarah Roses, the top scorer of the UEFA European Championship, with 12 goals.

Portugal was even reduced to 5-3 in the 43rd minute, via Maria Sofia Silva, culminating in an excellent offensive move.

Three minutes after the end, the team took advantage of the corner kicks from a direct free kick, penalizing Spain’s tenth foul, but Joanna Teixeira was unable to score.

Spain took the record with seven titles, including the last six, followed by Portugal with three titles, Italy and Germany with two titles, and France with the puck.
