Spain’s Endesa wins Pego – Energia competition

Andesa said in a statement that the Spanish company had won the tender for Peugeot in Abrantes. It is “a hybrid renewable project that will have the largest battery in Europe,” says the company, in the same note.

Endesa states that the submitted project includes a total investment of 600 million euros. This amount is intended for building solar and new energy. “Endesa not only continues to invest in Portugal, as it has always done, but we are also implementing a project in which we have devoted a lot of effort and affection, and we are developing an innovative model of renewable development in which local communities play a real role,” said Generacion General Manager, Endesa Rafael Gonzalez, in a statement.

“With this award, Endesa reinforces its commitment in Portugal to a just transition, primarily to the communities with which we have worked for three decades in the Abrantes region and with those we will now build the future for the next three decades or more,” notes Nuno Ribeiro da Silva, General Manager Endesa in Portugal.

Besides developing renewables, this competition-winning plan also made proposals for economic and social growth in the Abrantes region – the company’s commitment to “create 75 work points and 12,000 hours of training and support for SMEs to integrate projects in the region”. The 12,000 hours of training will be used to “professional retrain more than 2,000 people” as well as comprehensive skills competitions, such as management issues and digital tools.

In fact, the topic of creating economic value for the area in which the Pego power plant is located was already known as one of the topics that will be distinguished in the evaluation of offers.

At the beginning of February, the jury evaluated the proposals of companies participating in the Pego reconversion process Best rated for Endesa, Tejo Energia soon followed – in which Endesa owns a stake.

Six proposals were put forward for tender: In addition to Endesa and Tejo Energia, Greenvolt, EDP Renováveis, Bondalti and Voltalia also submitted proposals.
