The Al-Nassr midfielder remembers what happened in 2018 when he was at Benfica and before heading to China

Talisca accused Jorge Mendes of wanting to change his signing bonus “above acceptable” and forcing him to go to Manchester United in 2018, when he returned from a loan to Besiktas and expired. From Benfica to Guangzhou for 19 million euros.

“People ask me why I didn’t go to Manchester. I had a serious problem with the former manager of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was Jorge Mendes. When I arrived at Benfica, I signed a partnership contract with my manager in Brazil and with Jorge Mendes. That is, he was the one who represented me outside Brazil. In those The deal from Besiktas to Manchester, except that I was on loan and belonged to Benfica, there was 45 million euros on the table, all together, with both businessmen talking about their part… But something very disturbing happened with the ‘man’ who He wants to change my salary [Jorge Mendes]. It was a really crazy thing. That’s when I said I didn’t want to go. I really wanted to touch my glove [n.d.r.: prémio de assinatura]. Ball action, things that don’t happen only in Bahia. It’s a normal procedure, only this one was above acceptable and that’s why I refused. He has already signed a blank document in my name that says ‘I agree to join Manchester United'”.

And the 29-year-old midfielder believes that his rejection of Manchester United means that he was not called up to the Brazilian national team and that someone took his place at the English club. “Since I didn’t sign for Manchester, I wasn’t called up for the next three weeks for the 2018 World Cup, and Fred went to my place. When Fred left my place, he left Shakhtar’s training camp and signed for Manchester. To understand? Previously, Jorge Mendes had a big influence, not anymore. Today there are many good businessmen.”
