Joao Pedro announced in May the official promotion of the Seagulls, who will compete in the Europa League in 2023/24.

Brighton, who finished in the English Premier League in sixth place, to secure an unprecedented qualification for European competitions, announced on Wednesday the arrival of Joao Pedro, the Brazilian striker whose signing was announced already in May, with a five-year contract.

The 21-year-old Canadian striker left Watford, in the English second division, after costing about 34 million euros, according to the press in that country, to become the most expensive promotion in the history of the Seagulls.

Joao Pedro grew up in Fluminense, and arrived in England in 2020, after scoring 11 goals and four assists in 35 games for Watford this season, which finished 11th in the Championship.
